Hi everyone,
Sorry for the late notice but as you know this Tuesday sees the last game of indoor hockey for the 2008-09 season. I hope you have all enjoyed the opportunity to try something a little different and have had some fun along the way. We have learnt a number of things from this season and next year should see us do some things a little differently which will lead to a better run competition that you will all, I hope, register again to enjoy.
For the last round of the season, based on your feedback, we are going to run two competitions. For the open mixed competition we will run a round of finals, that will see 1v2 and 3v4 with the winner of 1v2 taking out the indoor trophy for the 2008/9 season. This game will take place at 6.00pm at the stadium where Ride On’s will play the Purple Lamas. At 6.50 we will see Spring Bunnies play the Fruit Bats for the minor placing’s. As usual each team will need to supply an umpire for the game in which they are not playing. As these are finals please be mindful of the umpire you are supplying as we would like to ensure that the game is controlled and everyone enjoys the experience. We will be having a sausage sizzle afterwards in the area between the stadium and PCYC and ask that you all join in to have a chat and offer some feedback on what you would like to see next year.
For the under 14’s and the social competition we will be running a round robin competition. The games will run from 6.00pm to 7.30pm for the under 14’s at PCYC. We ask that all teams arrive between 5.30 and
5.45 to set up and check in. We will be putting individuals names in a hat and drawing out two teams of 6 or 7 (depending on numbers) to play a game of two 10 min halves. This means you could be playing with people that have been your opposition all year against your team mates. The idea is to mix it up a little and have a bit of fun playing with different people. It is expected that each person will get a couple of games in the hour and a half we have set aside with two different groups of people. While these games are going on we will also be running a sausage sizzle in the area between the stadium and PCYC and ask that you and your parents that have supported you all year drop by to have a sausage and a chat.
The open social competition will run in the same format as the U14’s comp described above but will run from 7.30 to 9.00pm.
Individuals/teams to be there by 7.15 for registration. Again the sausage sizzle will run in the early part of this competition and we would like you to join us for a sausage and give us some feedback on the competition.
Could you please reply to this email letting us know if your team is interested in taking part so that we have an idea of how many to expect. This will help us with the scheduling and knowing how many sausages to buy. We thank you for your time and patience over the indoor season and hope that you enjoyed the chance to use your stick skills and keep fit over the summer months.
We hope you will show your support for the last game of the season and we look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday.
Thanks
Ann and Julie
